I provide prenatal (during pregnancy) and postnatal support to mothers and their newborns and infants in London.
What this looks like will vary, according to your own personal needs.
Some mothers desire emotional support and a supportive presence: someone who will listen to them, hear their birth story, reassure and encourage them - 'you can do this!'
Some mothers require practical assistance during their postpartum recovery; with their baby, with cooking or meal prep, with their older children - or their dogs!
Some mothers want information about infant sleep, breastfeeding, nutrition, etc: whilst there is a wealth of it on the internet, I can signpost good-quality data and reliable sources, backed up by peer-reviewed research.
Most mothers want some combination of all of the above - and that is what I am here to provide.
The word 'doula' is rooted in the Greek, 'to serve'. I am here to serve you and your baby, at this most precious and challenging time.

Services Offered
Gentle care and support for new mums in South East London
Prenatal
I offer prenatal birth planning sessions in the form of a 90 minute in-person meeting at a location of your choice (your home, a café, walking around your local park), to discuss your plans, hopes and fears for your birth and beyond, to answer any questions you may have in your mind, and/or signpost you towards appropriate sources of information.
Postnatal
What Post-Natal Support might look like:
I arrive, wash my hands and make you a cup of tea or coffee, then take the baby off your hands so that you can sit down, put your feet up and drink it while it's still hot. Then you might want to take a shower/wash and blow-dry your hair/spend some time on self-care, relaxed in the knowledge that your newborn is safe and secure, in my arms or a baby-carrier, if not sound asleep in their crib.
Then I might make you some breakfast or whip up some lunch using whatever I can find in your fridge - re-imagining leftovers is my special talent. I can bring you a loaf of my home-made sourdough bread* if you'd like, or some of my bone broth* to use as a base to a nourishing soup. Then, of course, I'm there to tend to the baby while you eat an entire meal uninterrupted and in peace.
Whilst you're feeding your baby, I can hang out some washing, or load the dishwasher. Then you might want a hand getting you and your baby ready and out the door to a doctor's appointment, or I can accompany you on your first schlep around a supermarket - or maybe your dog needs a walk.
Perhaps you want an extra pair of hands whilst you give your infant a bath, or for me to give you my best tips on removing poop-covered clothing most efficiently - or basic breastfeeding support and encouragement. I can find your nearest lactation consultant, or point you towards local baby groups.
Many mothers really need to sit down and simply TALK at length, working through all the details of what happened during their birth(s); this can be a very important part of healing and recovery, particularly - though not only - when birth has been difficult, and perhaps has not gone as expected.
This time is available as needed, in chunks of 2 (£50), 3 (£70) or 4 (£90) hours. I come to your home, and help and support you in whatever capacity you need that day.
*available when booked in advance, £5 per item.
